This was a great week, albeit, an incredibly fast week. I was moving from the moment I walked in the door on all campuses. I worked to touch base with everyone who contacted me, but unfortunately, time was not on my side this week. For those I was unable to meet with this week, you’re at the top of my list for next week. As we move forward into this new semester, let’s continue to push our students to perform at their best. Presenting our students with challenges will help them become the successful people we want them to be.

Twenty Ideas for Engaging Projects – website – This blog post offers some great ideas for most content areas for projects that are engaging and can enrich instruction. Ideas range from Angry Birds in Physics and collaborating with NASA to community service projects and helping English Language Learners. Take a look, there is likely something that can be adapted to your curriculum.
Rhyme ‘ Learn – website – A collection of math and science rap videos aimed at secondary topics. These videos make for great mnemonic learning tools. This is a great way to get your students learning their facts in a manner they will enjoy. These can be used as instructional aids as well as reference resources for students working independently.
INTERACT 2014 – website – It is hard to believe, but we are in the beginning phase of INTERACT 2014 already! It is time to start thinking about forming a team so you can apply from your campus. The rules will be similar as last year. All information you need to know right now is posted on the iCafe.
We are just giving you plenty of notice to get you thinking about applying and allowing you time to form your team. Once your team is formed be sure to follow this link and complete the Intent to Apply Form by January 31. If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope to see you there!.
New Schedule – From an e-mail earlier this week, Katie Marchena is the new Math Curriculum Instructional Specialist for LCISD. Katie was the CITS for Terry and Lamar. I will be providing coverage to these campuses until a replacement is hired. I will be visiting each high school according to this schedule:
- Monday – Lamar Consolidated High School
- Tuesday – George Ranch High School
- Wednesday – Terry High School
- Thursday – Foster High School
When scheduled, I will also be assisting at Special Sites. Please let me know if there is anything I can assist you with. E-mail is the best way to reach me.
