I blinked and the week was over. It’s hard to believe we are coming into the last week of October. This week brought about many great things. A cafeteria marquee displaying a message for the first time in several years. A live, streaming broadcast of a volleyball match. Many great classroom activities. See many great things happening in the classroom and in the computer labs.
As the year continues, please remember to monitor your students when using technology in the classroom and when you are in computer labs. We are seeing iPad chargers vanishing all over the place. These aren’t cheap items to replace; especially when campuses are having to purchase 20 or more. When you take students into a computer lab, remember this is not a free day for you. The students need constant supervision. The students have been destroying the computers and the rooms. I have seen everything from simple mischief to destruction. Let’s keep our equipment functional for everyone.

TexasTeachersVote – website
Unless you haven’t turned on a TV for the last two months, election day is coming up quickly (November 4). Early voting has already opened (October 20-31) and there are many important elected positions on the ballot. The Texas Classroom Teachers Association created TexasTeachersVote.org in 2006 to help educators become more informed and more active in the political process at the state level at a time when education policy decisions in the Texas Legislature were at a turning point. This site includes survey responses for candidates who chose to fill out a questionnaire on key education issues as well as voting records for candidates who were legislators during the 2013 session. There is some great information that can assist in choosing a candidate.
At some point, everyone needs clipart or pictures for use with their lesson or for students to use in their projects. As nice as Google images works, most of those images are copyright protected. Here are three sites that offer clipart and images for educational use with no user restrictions for lessons and student projects.
