Week of 3-31-14

I’m happy to announce, thanks to your support, I received notice this morning that I have been invited to attend the Global SMART Exemplary Educator Summit taking place July 20-26 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  I am thrilled to be one of the candidates selected to attend.  This might not have happened if not for your consistent support through the voting process.

The Global SEE Summit is an action-packed week of sharing and learning that will include:

  • Advanced training sessions and workshops on SMART amp and SMART Notebook 2014
  • The opportunity to network with other leading educators
  • The opportunity to provide input and feedback on new and upcoming SMART products and initiatives
  • All expenses paid by SMART, including airfare, accommodations, meals, and transportation

Again, thank you to everyone.  I am looking forward to this opportunity.

Testing week…always entertaining.  You never know what will happen.  The nice part, I know our students will do well because of the great teachers they get to see every day.  It’s hard to believe April is already upon us.  As we enter into these last nine weeks of the school year, let’s keep the energy high.  We know there is still more testing to come, but we need to approach it positively so the students will do the same.  I heard a great comment this week, “The state test “doesn’t matter” until a kid fails, is retained, or doesn’t graduate….then it kind of matters.”  The test does matter and how we approach has a direct impact on the students’ view of it.  Keep encouraging the students to do their best and they will step up to your expectations.
