Another fast week. Visited with many teachers throughout the days. The first progress reporting period is now complete and we are pushing towards the end of the 1st six-weeks. Many different trainings taking place, both off campus and on campus. The start to the year is very busy as we get to know our students, parents, colleagues, and administrators. As we move forward, let’s keep the students as engaged and as active as they have been so far. An engaged student is a learning student.

Voicemail – Please be sure to check your voicemail regularly. In most cases, the phone is your classroom is not associated with your voicemail. Your phone number is different than the one to your classroom. To find you actual phone extension you can check a couple different places. First place to check is the online LCISD phone directory. If you are not showing in this directory, you can also get your extension from any of the district phones. Here are the steps to find your number:
- On a district phone, press the Directories button
- Select “Corporate Directory”
- Search for you name, you extension will show with your name
If you need assistance learning more about your phone, check out the blog post on the iCafe. If you are unable to access your voicemail, submit a work order to firstname.lastname@example.org (x0220). The networking department can reset your access pin number so you can gain access.
Note: Last year we received an e-mail notification when we received a voicemail. Right now that notification feature is not working. As a result, you need to make time to check your voicemail once a day to make sure you have not missed any calls. You don’t want to leave a parent thinking you are ignoring their calls.
Website – Please remember to keep you web page up-to-date. Parents love to see what is going on in your classroom. Students benefit from your calendars and having access to notes and assignments. If you are in need of assistance, let me know. Remember, you cannot post the codes for your online textbooks. This is a violation of the textbooks copyright. If you are using Web Lockers or Edmodo, you can post them in these locations because it is a password protected, secure environment. Here are cheat sheets for editing your LCISD website. If you are interested in Edmodo, check the iCafe. In the Resources section, there are great cheat sheets to cover most of the processes for using Edmodo. If you are using external sites for your classroom, be sure to let parents and students know on your LCISD website that classroom resources are on stored somewhere else and provide a link.
